mediation
Mediation can be written or spoken. You will need to transfer or explain information that another person does not know. You will need to select and summarise this information. You are not supposed to copy information from the text given, so you will need to explain what you read with your own words.
Mediating is also translating from one language into another language.
This is taken from Educantabria Language Teaching Testing:
"Oral mediation is construed to be synonymous with — simultaneous interpretation (at conferences, meetings) — consecutive interpretation (speeches, guided tours) — informal interpretation (e.g., in social and transactional situations for friends, family, clients, or of signs, menus, notices).
Written mediation is construed to be synonymous with — exact translation (of legal and scientific texts) — literary translation — summarizing gist (within L1 or between L1 and L2) — paraphrasing. "
