pronouncing /IZ/ pLURALS AND THIRD PERSON PRESENT SINGULAR ENDINGS IN -ES
According to English with Julia we pronounce /iz/ when we have the endings /s/, /z/, /dʒ/, /tʃ/ and /ʃ/ that are quite similar to /s/ and /z/. So, we need a vowel to hear the ending. Find her video and do the activities on the pronunciation of /z/, /s/ and iz/ for plurals and third person singular of the present simple. By the way, the verb play /plei/ has already "i" in its infinitive so you do not add /iz/ when forming the plural or the third person singular of the present simple in fact. Check the answer of number 4 on Julia's activities because it shoud be /z/ for plays.
